The first story of the life-death-life series portrays deception and destruction. Deception is the exploiter who takes a part of us for our becoming. That, in some cruel way, a part of us had to die to receive something much higher. These stories show initiatory phases of the sometimes brutal lessons endured yet open the door of the psyche for wisdom and blessings to pour.

For instance, we see in the classic tale of Persephone's descent from where the seasons came. She, the Queen of heaven and earth, above and below, served both underworld (the shadowy inner-world of one's psyche) and the upper world of harmony and balance, which is paradisiacal.

Darkness, fear, negativity, and paralysis impart something more if we are willing to look closer for their hidden signs, meaning, and message. Revealing that deep down inside — you already knew. Only the subtlety of this alchemy causes us to miss it.
